About 1953

1953 is a new and upcoming mixed development located in Balestier and is bounded by Balestier Road, Tessensohn Road and Race Course Road. The development is easily accessible as it is sited near the Farrer Park MRT Station on the North-East Line (NEL). It is also a short drive to the City Centre, Central Business District (CBD) and Orchard Road. 7 of the shops and 9 of the apartments are housed in the conserved archetypal Singapore shophouses while the other 7 shops, 40 apartments and 9 penthouses are housed together in the new part of the development.

This project continues the tradition of the Singapore shophouse archetype with its commercial shops on the ground floor and living spaces above. The ground level is set back from the road, with an overhanging veranda supported by columns on the front, which creates a distinctive five-footway design.
